Here is how this works in practice. We place directors of photography who lead the camera and lighting departments for shoots in the Czech Republic. Our DPs work with the director to define the look — lensing, lighting design, camera movement, colour and composition — and carry it from prep through the shoot into the grade. They tech-scout locations, build shot lists, select cameras and lenses from Czech rental houses, and lead the camera ops, focus pullers, gaffers and grips on set.

Here is the short of it. Czech DPs are proficient across ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice and Blackmagic systems, work fluently in English, and integrate smoothly with global productions. We match each DP's reel and sensibility to the project — a period drama, a fast-turnaround commercial or an observational documentary each calls for a different cinematographer — and set up the full camera department around them.

Here is the breakdown. Czech cinematography is worldwide distinguished. Miroslav Ondříček shot Miloš Forman's 'Amadeus' — the Prague-filmed epic that won eight Oscars — alongside 'Ragtime' and 'Hair', earning Academy Award recognition for his camerawork; Vladimír Smutný photographed Jan Svěrák's Oscar-winning 'Kolya'. That custom is taught at FAMU, the Prague film school founded in 1946 and one of the world's oldest. This has produced generations of cinematographers.

The country's decades as a service-production hub — 'Mission: Impossible', 'Casino Royale', 'The Illusionist' and series such as 'Carnival Row' and 'The Wheel of Time' — have given Czech DPs deep experience of global features and episodic work.
