Here is how this works in practice. We produce detailed cost guesses that give producers a realistic financial picture before a project is greenlit. Our team prices each line against today's Czech market rates, drawing on long experience of how global shoots actually spend here.

Here is the short of it. Guesses are built in Czech koruna, since the Czech Republic uses the koruna rather than the euro despite being an EU and Schengen member, and we model exchange exposure at roughly 23 CZK to the US dollar so a budget set in another currency holds up. We account for 21% VAT and identify which costs qualify for rebates, giving you both a gross figure and a clear sense of net production cost.

Here is the breakdown. The Czech 20% cash rebates on qualifying Czech spend, administered by the State Cinematography Fund (Státní fond kinematografie), materially changes a production's good cost, and a credible guess has to model it accurately. Including the extra rebates on withholding tax for foreign cast and crew. We flag which spend qualifies and which does not, so the guess reflects true net cost rather than headline cost.
