Here is how this works in practice. We build detailed shoot budgets that give producers and financiers an accurate, defensible view of what a project will cost and what it will net. Our team prices each department — crew, cast, studios, locations, gear, transport, lodging, post-prod and backup — against today's Czech market rates, drawing on long experience of how shoots actually spend here.

Here is the short of it. Budgets are constructed in Czech koruna, since the Czech Republic uses the koruna rather than the euro despite being an EU and Schengen member, and we model exchange exposure at roughly 23 CZK to the US dollar so a budget set in another currency stays stable. We account for 21% VAT across and structure the budget so cash flow and funding line up across pre-production, the shoot and delivery.

Here is the breakdown. The Czech film rebates is central to any budget for a project shooting here. The State Cinematography Fund (Státní fond kinematografie) administers a 20% cash rebates on qualifying Czech spend, plus a rebates on withholding tax for foreign cast and crew, and a credible budget has to model the rebates precisely. Separating qualifying from non-qualifying spend and showing both gross cost and net cost after rebates. We structure the budget so spend is positioned to qualify and the records will satisfy the rebates audit.
